TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching elementary grades for 29 years! I began teaching 2nd then 4th grade in an inner-city school in York, Pennsylvania. I moved to Las Vegas in 1999 and spent the next 6 years teaching 4th grade at a very nice private school.  I came back to public education and taught kindergarten for 9 years.  Looking for a new adventure I transferred to a rural school outside of Las Vegas. Here I taught a 2nd and 3rd grade combination class. We are very much like a one room school house with 3 rooms. I recently accepted the position of Literacy Specialist for my school. I provide training for teachers and staff as well as pull groups of students for remediation, enrichment, or whatever they need.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I like to use teachable moments. I plan the day and lessons carefully. However I am open to making adjustments as needed. I teach children not lessons.

I have been recognized many times by peers and supervisors for various school and district wide awards through the years including the Cattleman's Association for teacher of the year candidate.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am happily married to a wonderful man. He has put up with me for over 2 decades. We have 2 sons. Our youngest is in high school. The oldest is married to a beautiful first grade teacher. They recently blessed us with the most handsome grandson ever! So, when I am not teaching or creating products, I spend my time thinking of new ways to spoil him.
